The Daily Word
![]() |
Even the most organised and sedate lifestyle must have its panic moments, when something unexpected happens, a phone call out of the blue, an unexpected accident. There must be a hundred things that disturb even the quietest of lives without warning.
As for the rest of us, an organised and sedate life is not at all what we are accustomed to. Those disturbing interruptions seem to happen more frequently and usually in 2’s or 3’s. We are busy most of the day and yet seem to have achieved very little. Even quiet times get shortened and sometimes rushed.
Yet when Jesus was on earth, the demands on His time were massive but we need to follow His example because we read, more than a few times, that He took Himself away from the busyness and spent time with His Father alone. He followed the words we find in Psalm 46 v 10, “Be still and know that I am God”. The time we spend alone with the Lord is the most profitable for our spiritual welfare. If we are too busy working and even working in His service, and don’t take that time out to commune with our Heavenly Father, we will very quickly become useless for Him. Let guard our Quiet Times totally because we always come out of His presence refreshed.
