The Daily Word

Do you believe that the second coming of the lord is near? It has always been the watchword and hope of Christians throughout history. Jesus, in one of His final discourses with His Disciples gave many symptoms to look for that told us that His coming again was near. Despite assurances by world leaders that things are under control, I certainly get the impression that they are trying to squash an inflating balloon back into a flat shape and all the current world situations are bubbling uncontrolled into a major world crisis. Jesus told us that ‘things would wax worse and worse’ and it feels that is currently the case.

The verse we looked at yesterday has another comforting promise that we need to latch on to in these dark times. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord”. We may not feel blessed by what is going on around us, but it is what is going on within us that enables us to retain our hope. When our faith is centred totally on the Lord, God’s promise is there that we will be blessed. That does not mean that all our problems will miraculously disappear. What it does mean is that they take on a different sequence and importance as we get more of God’s view of the world.

If the Lord’s coming is near, then our faith and watchfulness and service for Him should be a greater priority. Do we want God’s blessing? Then let us increase our faith and trust in Him – the promise is there for us to claim.
