The Daily Word

How can we not look at the happenings in the world and even in our own lives as the world impacts on us and not see CHANGE? Country alliances shift; wars break out at the drop of a hat, or rather on the whim of power-mad or deranged world leaders; nearer to home, legislation and political attitudes cause us to re-think the way we live and even the things we buy are called consumer goods, indicating they have a limited lifespan. We are inundated with questionnaires and phone calls asking us about changes that have been or are going to be made. There is no permanence in any worldly part of our lives and change that I see is rarely for the better. And I do not believe it is just me going on as a grumpy old man!

If I had no faith in God, I believe I would feel as though I was on the sea in a small boat without any form of steering or power. Even as Christians, we not immune from the changes that are going on BUT, we have found an anchor to our lives in the Lord Jesus Christ. We look at the changes and see the prophecies in the Bible from 2000 years ago, “ And things will wax worse and worse…..” and in one way, we can take comfort because that same prophecy also goes on to promise the Second Coming of our Saviour to take us to our real spiritual home.

And we also take comfort in a Bible statement written 3000 years ago in Psalm 102, “But You, O Lord, shall endure for ever”. Our salvation is eternal; the change that we experience in following our Saviour brings us nothing but good.
