Seek His Face – Psalm 105:4-9
Dear Friends, the psalmist calls us with a clear and urgent invitation: “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (v.4)
Not just occasionally, not only when life is difficult, but continually. Day after day, moment by moment, we are to turn our hearts toward the living God and seek His face.
The psalm then reminds us why this matters so deeply:
“Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!” (vv.5-6)
We are called to remember. To look back and recall God’s faithfulness to His people — the covenant He made with Abraham, the promises He kept with Isaac and Jacob, the wonders He performed in Egypt and in the wilderness. God has not changed. The same God who spoke to the patriarchs is still speaking to us today.
“He is the Lord our God;
his judgments are in all the earth.
He remembers his covenant forever,
the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
the covenant that he made with Abraham,
his sworn promise to Isaac,
which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant.” (vv.7-9)
What a wonderful truth! God remembers His covenant. He has not forgotten His promises. Even when we are weak, distracted, or wandering, He remains faithful. His word stands firm for a thousand generations.
Today we are invited to do two simple but life-changing things:
1. Seek His face continually — not just His hand (what He can do for us), but His presence, His heart, His nearness.
2. Remember His faithfulness — look back at what He has already done in our lives and in the lives of His people, and let that fuel our trust for today and tomorrow.
In a world that pulls us in every direction, the psalmist calls us back to the one thing that matters most: fixing our eyes on the Lord and anchoring our hearts in His unchanging covenant love.
Today, pause in the quiet. When was the last time you simply sought God’s face — not for answers or blessings, but for Him? What wondrous works of His can you remember right now that strengthen your faith?
Point to Ponder: God’s greatest gift is not what He gives us, but Himself. Seeking His face is the path to true strength and joy.
Verse to Remember: “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” (Psalm 105:4 ESV)
Question to Consider: This week, set aside a few minutes each day simply to seek God’s face. Ask Him to help you remember His faithfulness in your life. How might continually seeking Him change the way you face each day?
