Today's Word

One of the miracles that Jesus performed in His ministry was the restoration of sight to the man who had been blind from birth. Jesus wasn’t actually with him when his sight was restored because he told him to go and wash his eyes at a pool, so the man didn’t actually know who had healed him. He got into bother with the religious rulers because the healing was performed on the Sabbath and they tried to convince him that Jesus was a not from God. But he stuck to his guns and the key phrase that no one could dispute was , “One thing I know, that once I was blind, but now I see!”

In a similar way, we can say that even more clearly, in a spiritual sense, when we came to know Jesus as our Saviour. The depth of our sin which blinded our hearts we first realised and the reality of Jesus death on the cross and the punishment he bore for each of us individually as sinners, caused us to give our lives to Him and the darkness within us was removed. That light in our hearts will never be extinguished because God, in the person of the Holy Spirit, has come into our hearts and He opens our eyes to more and more spiritual blessing.

Later on, Jesus found the man and told him He was the one who had given him his sight and John 9 v 38 confirms the man’s reaction to this news, “He worshiped Him”. Have you worshiped Jesus today? Have you thanked Him today for restoring your spiritual light and giving you everlasting life? There should never be a day when we don’t worship and thank Him for all He has done, is doing, and will do in our lives and just for who He is.
