Reaching Out With Simple Faith

Just Touch the Fringe
Dear Friends, Jesus and the disciples land at Gennesaret. As soon as they step out of the boat, people recognise Him. Word spreads like wildfire through the whole region. The sick are carried on mats to wherever they hear He is. They beg just to touch the fringe of His garment—and everyone who touches it is made well (vv53–56).
No long speeches. No dramatic rituals. Just desperate people reaching out in simple faith, and Jesus letting them come close enough to brush the edge of His robe. The power flows from Him, and healing happens—quietly, instantly, completely. The same Jesus who walked on water, who fed thousands, who stilled the storm now stands still while crowds press in, touching Him, and finding wholeness.
This is the heart of the gospel in miniature: we don’t have to earn His attention or prove our worth. We just have to come. The sick didn’t wait for perfect timing or perfect words—they simply brought their need and reached out. And Jesus didn’t turn them away. He let them touch Him, and they were healed.
Today, pause and imagine yourself in that crowd. What part of your life feels broken, sick, or just worn thin? Bring it to Jesus right now. You don’t need a grand performance or a perfect prayer—just reach out. Touch the fringe of His garment in faith. He is still the same—full of compassion, full of power, full of willingness to make you well.
Point to Ponder: Healing doesn’t depend on how hard we try or how worthy we feel—it depends on how near we come to Jesus.
Verse to Remember: “And wherever he came, in villages, cities, or the countryside, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched it were made well.” (Mark 6:56 ESV)
Question to Consider: What in your life needs Jesus’ healing touch today? Will you reach out in simple faith and let Him make you well?
