The Daily Word
![]() |
Yesterday we established, from God’s Word, that ‘God’s people’ are not an earthly nation but all those who have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. That brings us into such a privileged position that we can never on this earth fully appreciate. We go back to those words in John 1 which commences with all-powerful all-majestic creator God and then moves on to say, “To as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to be called the children of God”.
To be in the position of being one of God’s people is a great blessing, translated from the kingdom of darkness to be part of His kingdom. But to be called a ‘child of God’ adds a whole new and closer layer to that relationship with Him. Not only is that an established fact while we live on this earth, but as John 3 v 16 says, we have eternal life. The whole of our relationship is eternal and rests on the word of God so doesn’t even have to be verified because God cannot lie.
Back in Psalms, we have confirmation of that unbreakable bond, “For the Lord will not cast off His people … “. An old hymn we used to sing has the beautiful line inn it which says, “Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord!” And another chorus should represent our reaction daily, “I never will cease to praise Him, My Saviour, My Saviour. He’s done so much for me!”
