The Daily Word

This morning, as every Sunday as far back as I can recall, our local church members will gather together to celebrate the “Lord’s Supper”. It is an occasion like no other and it was instituted by Jesus Himself. Other Christian denominations call it Communion and perhaps that word is more explicit about the purpose of gathering together because we have communion with each other.
But that communion would be only of a human nature if it was just that, fellowship and communion with each other. But the communion that we have on our Sunday Morning meetings is primarily with our Saviour and it is that communion which makes our fellowship so joyous and real because we have the Lord’s presence within our gathering and our theme is worship, because we remember our Saviour.
The meeting may have different themes as led by the Holy Spirit, but the bread and wine take us back to the event 2000 years ago that has shaped our lives since we first recognised its significance. And we can all give thanks for the benefit and worth that we have found in our salvation and in our Saviour.
Let us all this morning gather to bring our worship to our Lord Jesus because it is His Supper, and we are His guests. Mary, so long ago brought that alabaster bottle of perfumed ointment and broke it over the Lord’s body as an act of worship. May our worship this morning be as sweet to our God.
