Which Way Should I Go?

Sometimes life feels like a crossroads with too many signposts. Everyone has an opinion—family, friends, even well-meaning church leaders. They tell you which route to take in any given situation, which relationship to pursue, which door to close. Their advice can be thoughtful, even loving, but it can also be noisy. In the middle of all that sound it’s easy to forget that the most important voice is the quiet one that speaks to the heart. God still speaks. He doesn’t shout to compete with the crowd, but He speaks—through His Word, through prayer, through a steady sense of peace or conviction that cuts through the chatter.

The Bible reminds us again and again that we are to follow God, not men. Proverbs tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. Jesus called His sheep to recognise His voice and follow Him. That means His leading will sometimes take us in a direction that others don’t understand. It may disappoint people we respect. It may even puzzle church leaders we love. But God’s call is never second best. He knows the whole picture when we only see the corner of the puzzle. Listening to Him isn’t always dramatic. Often it’s a slow, careful obedience—a quiet “yes” when everything around you says “go the other way.”

So when you face a hard decision, take the time to be still. Open your Bible. Pray honestly. Lay every plan and preference before the Lord. Then wait. Let His peace settle the matter, even if it means saying no to the loudest human voices. Church leaders can encourage, friends can advise, but only God can direct your steps. Follow where He leads, because His path may not always be the easiest, but it will always be the right one.
